Born in Marseille, Françoise Nielly spent her childhood in the south of France before settling in Paris.
After an initial career as an illustrator and photographer in advertising, she turned to painting to reinvent the work of a portrait painter.
She reproduces the human face with blows, a knife scarred on the face. The bursts of life that emerge from his paintings are born from a close encounter with the canvas.
Color is launched like a projectile. Its energy gives each touch the intensity of a sound vibration.
The paint stains are musical touches, dissonant and noisy like life. But in the space of the painting, they harmonize into a single timbre which, to each of the faces, gives its soul.
Noted for her incredible dexterity in handling the knife and oil paint, Françoise Nielly contrasts, imposes on view, her portraits, each of which, from a different angle, but repeated each time, exposes the violent face of life.
